Francis was the mother of two children, but only one was still living. She and both parents were born in Virginia. They lived on a farm, but it is unclear if the farm was owned or rented. Morgan Bates (32) was a boarder.

    She moved to Gordon County in November 1909 and lived there until at least 18 Aug 1910, when she filed for her pension.
