Census |

- Hiram Patterson appeared as head of household.
The household consisted of:
Free White Persons - Males - Under 5: 1 [likely Henson]
Free White Persons - Males - 15 thru 19: 1 [certainly Hiram]
Free White Persons - Females - 20 thru 29: 1 [probably Elizabeth (Cantrell)]
Free White Persons - Under 20: 2
Free White Persons - 20 thru 49: 1
Total Free White Persons: 3
Total - All Persons (Free White, Slaves, Free Colored): 3
Hiram's brother William, his cousin Henson Chapman, and Isaac Chapman (relationship unknown, but likely a cousin), appeared in the households around Hiram.
A couple of notes about this census enumeration:
1. The ages for Hiram and Elizabeth appear to be reversed. Hiram should be in the 20-29 age group and Elizabeth should be in the 15 to 19 age group.
2. Hiram and Elizabeth were married on August 26, 1830 and this census is supposed to be as of June 1, 1830. There are three possible ways to explain this:
a)They (or the census-taker) filled out the form incorrectly.
b)They were living together and had a child before the marriage was formalized.
c) Hiram had a prior wife and this female is not Elizabeth.
I'm leaning toward option a.
